The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is to make a swift return to Vietnam, via the APT Vietnam Championships 2018 to be held from July 11 to 22 at the Pro Poker Club, in Ho Chi Minh City.
The announcement by the APT comes after the APT Kickoff Vietnam 2018 – a market-first event held last month at the same venue. The Pro Poker Club is a membership venue in the country’s southern commercial hub, and is owned by local businessman Long Do (pictured, left).
“We are returning in July because of overwhelming player demand for another APT event and we intend to make this 12-day poker festival bigger and better,” said Lloyd Fontillas (pictured, right), the APT’s executive tournament director, in a prepared statement contained in a press release.
The inaugural January Vietnam event had 2,200 entries, and more than 600 unique players; with 45 countries represented and a grand prize pool of more than VND20 billion (US$877,500), according to the promoter.
