Casino currency supplier Gaming Partners International Corp has received an US$6.4 million order to supply casino currency to a casino in Macau.
The Nasdaq-listed company did not disclose the name of the casino.
The order includes nearly 900,000 chips and over 137,000 plaques from the company’s Bourgogne et Grasset and Bud Jones brands.
GPI began supplying casino tokens to casinos in Macau four decades ago. It counts all the city’s six casino operators among its clients.
GPI is based in Las Vegas. The company also has a sales office in Macau, established in December 2010.
The firm posted a net loss of US$1.1 million for the first quarter of 2014, it announced earlier this month. GPI had reported net income of US$0.5 million for the first quarter of 2013.
GPI said the decrease in net income was due to a decrease in sales of currency products, which caused fixed manufacturing costs to be allocated over lower production volumes.
