The Gaming Standards Association (GSA) has released an update to its Game to System (G2S) standards for adoption globally with electronic gaming equipment used in casinos.
Version 3.0 of G2S makes the standards much easier to implement, test and operate, said the trade body. New extensions have also been added “to support gaming operators’ modern business needs” it added.
The new extensions support casinos’ contemporary business needs, including “standalone progressive controllers, mystery jackpots, and electronic gaming machine-controlled progressive signs,” added the association.
The GSA is an international trade association aiming to work toward common technical standards for gaming technology across the casino games industry.
“Our goal with G2S 3.0 was to improve the migration path from previous versions, support evolving market needs, and enhance the technical foundation of the protocol for the future. We feel strongly that we have addressed those goals in this release,” said Kevin Higgins, G2S committee chair, in a press release on Wednesday.
The latest version of the G2S is one of 11 standards GSA recently released.
“Our operator members were an incredible source of both feedback and inspiration as we developed G2S 3.0,” said Ethan Tower, GSA’s protocol director.
He added: “Adding these extensions answers a critical business need of operators everywhere and help to make implementing those processes even easier”.
In addition to the new extensions, GSA said that several message handling and communications requirements were simplified and redundant features removed, “streamlining the standard and enhancing its ease of implementation”.
