Casino equipment and lottery services supplier GTech SpA says Neil Abrams is joining the company to lead its legal team.
Mr Abrams has more than 30 years of experience with U.S.-based digital technology company International Business Machines Corp (IBM).
He has been appointed GTech’s senior vice president and general counsel, responsible for overseeing all legal and corporate governance matters for the company. Mr Abrams will report to Alberto Fornaro, GTech executive vice president and chief financial officer.
“As GTech prepares for the imminent acquisition of IGT, and we begin listing on the New York Stock Exchange, our legal team will play a critical role ensuring we successfully navigate these changes and opportunities,” Mr Fornaro said in a statement accompanying the announcement, and referring to the US$6.4-billion leveraged acquisition of Nevada-based slot machine maker International Game Technology. That deal is due to close on April 7.
Most recently, Mr Abrams served as IBM’s vice president and assistant general counsel, client experience. In that role he was responsible for reorganising and simplifying the way the firm did business with its clients. Previously, he was the chief legal officer for IBM’s software business.
