Hong Kong’s Alan Lau (pictured) has emerged victorious at the 26th instalment of the Macau Poker Cup that concluded on Sunday, taking home the top prize of HKD3.27 million (US$420,700) for his first-place finish.
The regional series hosted 24 Official Asia Player of the Year events, including the HKD15,000 Red Dragon main event, featuring a HKD10-million guaranteed prize pool, according to the organisation.
The Red Dragon main even set a new record of 1,216 entries, according to PokerStars.
Taiwan’s Chou Chien Fa ranked second, getting a cash prize of HKD1.95 million, followed by Apoorva Goel from India, taking home a prize of HKD1.16 million.
Macau Poker Cup is promoted by online poker brand PokerStars and took place at ‘PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams’, a branded venue at Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd’s City of Dreams casino resort on Cotai, Macau.
Next in PokerStar’s calendar in Macau is the 17th instalment of the ACOP Platinum Series, which takes place from March 3 to 12. The regional series includes 14 Official Asia Player of the Year events, as well as a HKD5,500 Main Event which comes with a guaranteed prize pool worth HKD500,000.
