Best Sunshine International Ltd (BSI), a firm granted an exclusive licence to build a casino on the Pacific island of Saipan, has appointed Jacqueline Wu (pictured) as senior vice president for corporate marketing. Ms Wu worked for eight years for Sands China Ltd, the Macau-unit of casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Ms Wu has 18 years of experience in communications and marketing, Best Sunshine said in a press release. The company said she would be in charge of organising a number of community activities in conjunction with existing community groups and business associations.
“BSI strives to be a great corporate citizen and I look forward to becoming familiar with the community and determining where an organisation like BSI can make a lasting contribution,” Ms Wu said in the release.
“Our project is going to wow many people in the industry and will attract so much attention in the next few years,” she added.
Best Sunshine is a unit of Imperial Pacific International Holdings Ltd, which earlier this year invested in the profit stream of Macau junket firm Hengsheng Group.
In September, Imperial Pacific said the cost for the casino project on Saipan was estimated at about US$7.1 billion. Saipan is the largest island in the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), a five-hour flight from Shanghai.
Best Sunshine is still looking for a site for the casino resort, local newspaper Marianas Variety reported. “Currently the Best Sunshine International team is working very closely with DPL [CNMI’s Department of Public Lands] to identify suitable land parcels and there is nothing finalised at this point in time,” the newspaper quoted Ms Wu as saying at a press conference.
