The promoter of Jeju Dream Tower (pictured in an artist’s rendering), a new resort with foreigner-only casino located downtown in the capital of Jeju island, South Korea, is planning to launch the project in “October” this year, with “all facilities” to be opened at once.
So said Lawrence Teo, chief operating officer and executive vice president at the promoter firm Lotte Tour Development Co Ltd, via email in response to GGRAsia’s enquiry.
“We hope to open all facilities including the casino at once,” remarked Mr Teo.
Mr Teo added that his firm is currently in the process of applying for the building-occupancy permit for the casino resort project. “This will be followed by the Casino Impact Study Assessment for relocation of our casino licence from Lotte Hotel Jeju to Jeju Dream Tower,” Mr Teo noted to us.
According to the local authorities on Jeju – a semi-autonomous part of South Korea – such a social impact evaluation is legally required in cases where an existing Jeju casino operator wishes to expand, by more than two times, its gaming-operations capacity locally.
The construction of Jeju Dream Tower began in May 2016. Its 38 floors make it the tallest building on Jeju. The complex is – according to previous announcements by the promoter – to house a Grand Hyatt-branded hotel as well as a casino and other leisure facilities.
