Macau junket investor Suncity Group says it held a soft opening on Thursday for a VIP club at the Resorts World Manila casino complex, a property close to Manila International Airport.
The new VIP club (pictured) is located on the second floor of the property’s recently opened Grand Wing, said Suncity in a Thursday press release. The VIP club features a total of five rooms and 22 tables, it added.
Phase three expansion – dubbed Grand Wing – includes more hotel rooms and gaming facilities at Resorts World Manila. According to previous information, the property’s Grand Wing will have three international-standard luxury hotels.
Resorts World Manila is run by Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, a venture between Philippine conglomerate Alliance Global Group Inc and casino cruise ship specialist Genting Hong Kong Ltd.
Travellers International reported on Tuesday that its second-quarter gross gaming revenue grew by 46.8 percent year-on-year to PHP6.64 billion (US$126.4 million).
Suncity said it would hold a grand opening ceremony for its newest VIP club in the Philippines on September 3.
With the opening of the VIP club at Resorts World Manila, Suncity said it is now present in all of the existing private-sector casino resorts in Manila. The junket investor already had clubs at three other large-scale casino properties in Manila: City of Dreams Manila, operated by a unit of Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd; Solaire Resort and Casino, owned and managed by Philippine casino operator Bloomberry Resorts Corp; and Okada Manila, run by a unit of Japanese conglomerate Universal Entertainment Corp.
Suncity has consistently been identified for several years in commentary by investment analysts as the share leader for Macau VIP business. According to previous company statements, before the opening of this new VIP club, the firm had 18 VIP gaming clubs in Macau, and 14 high-roller gambling clubs outside Macau namely in the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Korea and Australia.
