Casino equipment maker and lottery services provider Scientific Games Corp announced on Wednesday a licence agreement for the James Bond film franchise, covering land-based gaming, lottery and social slots products.
The exclusive agreement with EON Productions Ltd, Danjaq LLC and MGM Interactive Inc – the latter a subsidiary of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc – gives Scientific Games the rights “to leverage all past and future” James Bond films, as well as “the films’ talent portraying James Bond,” the casino equipment maker said in a press release.
No financial details of the licence deal were disclosed by the press release. The document also did not state the duration of the agreement.
The Bond film series focuses on the fictional British Secret Service agent James Bond, a character first brought to life in a 1953 novel by British writer Ian Fleming. More than 20 films have been released so far under the film franchise: the first in 1962 and the most recent in 2015.
“The Bond franchise is clearly a long sought-after and incredibly exciting brand for our industry,” said Scientific Games’ chief executive Kevin Sheehan in a statement included in the press release.
The chairman of Scientific Games, Ronald Perelman, also commented on the deal. “We have been excited about this licence opportunity for a very long time,” he said.
Scientific Games stated the firm expected to exhibit the first James Bond-themed slot games at the Global Gaming Expo 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will take place between October 3 and October 5.
