Steve Wynn, chairman and chief executive of Wynn Resorts Ltd, and Edward Tracy (pictured), president and chief executive of Sands China Ltd, have been named among the best-performing CEOs in the world by Harvard Business Review.
The new rankings in the November issue of Harvard Business Review ranks Mr Wynn 17th among 100 top executives. Mr Wynn is also chairman and CEO of casino operator Wynn Macau Ltd.
Mr Tracy, who was first appointed president and chief operating officer of Sands China in July 2010, is ranked 96th. Sands China is the Macau unit of U.S.-based casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp. Mr Tracy became CEO in 2011 and has increased media exposure for the company with high profile marketing initiatives at the company’s flagship Venetian Macao property.
Harvard Business Review says the magazine’s rankings are based on quantitative data, evaluating which CEOs delivered the most concrete results during their tenure.
The annual ranking analyses more than 3,000 CEOs around the world. Three metrics are incorporated in the analysis, including industry-adjusted shareholder returns, country-adjusted shareholder returns and increase in market capitalisation.
Jeffrey Bezos of the online retail giant Amazon.com Inc is the “world’s best-performing CEO,” according to the new rankings of Harvard Business Review. Second on the list is John Martin of Gilead Sciences Inc. Third is John Chambers of Cisco Systems Inc.
