China LotSynergy Holdings Ltd, a provider of technology and services for mainland China’s lottery market, says it is about to complete the software development and staff training portion of a contract to provide telephone sales services for the Henan Sports Lottery Administration Centre.
In a statement on Monday to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the firm said that a mainland subsidiary – Beijing Huacai Yingtong Technology Co Ltd – had already initiated a “thorough and comprehensive technical consultation” with Henan Sports Lottery.
Henan is said to be China’s most populous province with around 100 million people and about 80 million mobile phone users.
In a filing in early April, China LotSynergy said that province-wide, sports lottery sales in Henan had exceeded RMB8 billion (US$1.29 billion) in 2014.
In early April, eight Chinese government agencies confirmed a suspension of what they described as “unauthorised online lottery sales services”. That suspension of online lottery sales continues, according to firms operating in the sector.
Nationally in the first half of 2015, mainland China’s combined sales of sports lottery and welfare lottery tickets grew 5 percent in value year-on-year to approximately RMB187.68 billion (US$30.7 billion), reported Xinhua, an official Chinese news agency, quoting government figures.
