China’s Alvan Zheng has emerged victorious from the 28th instalment of the Macau Poker Cup that concluded on Sunday, taking home the top prize of HKD3.06 million (US$390,000) for his first-place finish.
The competition was promoted by online poker brand PokerStars and took place at ‘PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams’, a branded venue at Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd’s City of Dreams casino resort on Cotai, Macau.
The Red Dragon main event attracted a total field of 1,122 entries, according to PokerStars. Mr Zheng was also awarded a PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship Platinum Pass worth an additional US$30,000, which allows him to compete in a tournament to be held in the Bahamas between January 6 and 10, 2019, said the organisers.
Next in PokerStar’s calendar in Macau is the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau leg, running from March 14 to 25.
