GPI to spend US$2.2 mln on U.S. factory expansion

GPI to spend US$2.2 mln on U.S. factory expansion

Gaming Partners International Corp (GPI) – a supplier of casino currency and table gaming equipment – is expanding its manufacturing facility at Blue Springs, Missouri, in the United States.

The firm has entered into a US$2.2-million contract with Miller Staunch Construction Co Inc to expand the Blue Springs factory, the Nasdaq-listed gaming supplier stated in a Monday filing. The work is to be completed by the end of September, GPI said.

GPI expects to fund the expansion from internal resources, using available cash and cash flow from operations.

The company manufactures playing cards and table layouts at the Blue Springs facility. The factory was taken over by GPI as part of its acquisition of GemGroup Inc in July 2014.

Following the deal, GPI relocated all its playing card production from the company’s Mexico manufacturing facilities to the Blue Springs facility. “The consolidation was part of our strategic plan to improve the efficiency of our playing card production and has provided savings in the manufacturing of playing cards,” the firm stated in its third quarter 2015 results announcement.

Its Macau-based subsidiary GPI Asia Ltd distributes GPI’s casino currencies, playing cards and table gaming accessories in the Asia-Pacific region.
