Supplier of gaming equipment and systems Inspired Entertainment Inc says it will buy the gaming technology business of Novomatic UK Ltd, part of the Novomatic group of Austria, for the equivalent in euros of US$120 million.
Inspired Entertainment issued a written announcement in New York on Tuesday saying the purchase would put it in a position to supply an extensive range of products and services in Europe and beyond.
Upon closing the acquisition, Inspired would manage more than 75,000 gaming machines in the U.K. and the rest of Europe, the firm stated.
The company said the gaming technology business of Novomatic UK comprises Gamestec Leisure, Playnation Ltd, Astra Games Ltd, Bell-Fruit Group Ltd, Harlequin Gaming Ltd and Innov8 Gaming Ltd. However, Novomatic UK will keep the casino assets of Astra Games, primarily a supplier to casinos.
Novomatic AG – one of the holding firms of the Novomatic group – announced in November a consolidation strategy designed to “optimise internal processes and structures across international borders”. The company has expanded rapidly in recent years, including taking a 52-percent stake in Australian slot machine maker Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd.
The Novomatic group, meanwhile, continues its push into the Asian market. Novomatic and Ainsworth displayed at the Global Gaming Expo Asia exhibition in Macau last month a new range of games with themes it hopes will appeal to Asians.
