Macau casino mogul Stanley Ho Hung Sun (pictured) celebrated his 93rd birthday on Tuesday. Mr Ho and members of his family celebrated by giving HKD2 million (US$258,000) to the Community Chest of Hong Kong charity fund.
Mr Ho is the founder and chairman of Macau-based casino operator SJM Holdings Ltd. He is also the father of Pansy Ho Chiu King, co-chairperson of Macau-based casino firm MGM China Holdings Ltd, and Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, chief executive and co-chairman of Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd, another of the six Macau casino operators.
The entrepreneur has another five children with his fourth consort, SJM Holdings’ executive director Angela Leong On Kei. In total, Mr Ho has 17 children from four different women.
Mr Ho retired from day-to-day management at SJM Holdings following a head injury in mid-2009 sustained in an accident at home.
The nonagenarian is often nicknamed “The King of Gambling”. That is a reference to the 40-year monopoly he held in the Macau casino industry up to 2002, when the government liberalised the sector. He also has gaming interests in Portugal.
