The operator of the newly opened City of Dreams Manila casino-resort confirmed in a filing on Monday that it has teamed with the global poker brand PokerStars to launch a room at the property dedicated to the game.
Melco Crown (Philippines) Entertainment Corp, a Manila-listed unit of Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd, had a soft opening for phase one of City of Dreams Manila on December 14. The new poker room officially opened on December 23.
‘PokerStars LIVE Manila’, on level two of the casino floor, offers cash games – plus tournaments held every Friday to Sunday inclusive – via 14 dedicated tables. Extra tables will be added for special events such as the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila Poker Festival, a PokerStars statement said.
“I have the utmost confidence that our…collaboration in Manila will take poker in the Philippines to new heights,” said Danny McDonagh, PokerStars’ director of live operations for Asia-Pacific.
The original City of Dreams – located on Cotai in Macau and operated by Melco Crown Philippines’ parent – also works with PokerStars, via a room branded as ‘PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams’ (pictured).
