The casino industry trade body the American Gaming Association (AGA) on Monday announced the addition of six board members and three general members. It is part of a new membership structure approved by the board of directors in late 2014.
The new board members include U.S.-based casino gaming and systems supplier Konami Gaming Inc; U.K. bookmaker William Hill Plc; and technology provider CG Technology. Also joining the board is the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority – the official tourism and business promotional body for Las Vegas. The other new board members are Nevada racetrack operator Greenwood Racing Inc and U.S. casino operator Seminole Hard Rock Gaming.
New general members of the AGA include Australia-based Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd, Electronic Transaction Systems and FinScan Oy.
“Today’s announcement of nine additional members – with more on the way – shows that our new direction is resonating with the industry,” Geoff Freeman, AGA president and chief executive, said in a press release.
“The gaming industry is strongest when it works together,” added Jim Murren, the chairman of the AGA, in the same statement. Mr Murren is also chairman and CEO of casino operator MGM Resorts International.
“The AGA will be best positioned to advance our collective interests through inclusivity, transparency and a focus on issues of common cause. I am confident that the AGA and our industry are moving in the right direction,” Mr Murren said.
After Monday’s announcement the AGA now has 27 “core” members and 44 “ally” members according to its website.
