A subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed China LotSynergy Holdings Ltd says it has won a bid to supply 20,000 terminals to the Guangdong Welfare Lottery Administration Centre.
“To date, this is the largest single terminal equipment order in [mainland] China’s lottery industry,” China LotSynergy stated in a filing on April 17.
The group will also provide maintenance of terminals and other related services.
China LotSynergy’s subsidiary, Guangzhou San Huan Yong Xin Technology Co Ltd, will in return be entitled to an undisclosed fixed percentage of Guangdong welfare lottery’s total computer-generated ticket game sales, said the filing.
Guangdong province is the top-ranking province in terms of lottery sales for the welfare and sports lottery combined, and Guangdong welfare lottery is the national industry leader by sales, China LotSynergy stated in its filing.
In 2014, Guangdong welfare lottery’s sales exceeded RMB20 billion, official data show.
Earlier this month, another subsidiary of China LotSynergy won a bid to supply software to Henan Sports Lottery Administration Centre in mainland China for use in the sale by telephone of lottery tickets.
The parent company reported a profit of HKD100 million (US$12.9 million) for full-year 2014, up 12.9 percent over the previous year.
In October 2010,China’s Ministry of Finance issued two provisional regulations regarding paperless distribution of lotteries: for online sales and for telephone sales.
But the administration of online sales has recently run into trouble. On April 3, eight central government agencies sent out a joint memo ordering the immediate cessation of what the document called “unauthorised” online lottery sales services.
