Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc – the developer of the Manila Bay Resorts casino project in the Philippines – announced on Wednesday the appointment of Steve Wolstenholme (pictured) as chief operating officer.
He will be responsible for overseeing the business and leading it in the run up to the opening of the entertainment complex and casino, which is targeted for December 2016.
Prior to joining Tiger Resort, Mr Wolstenholme served as president and chief operating officer of Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada in the United States.
Tiger Resort’s chairman, Japanese gaming entrepreneur Kazuo Okada, said in a statement accompanying the announcement: “We are confident that Steve will lead the organisation in making an impact when we open our doors next year. His work and experience shows that he’s not only a strategic and effective leader, but a man with a passion for success.”
Mr Wolstenholme has experience of managing – at a senior level – the pre-opening phase of a gaming project in Macau, said Wednesday’s press release. He has also had key roles in casino resorts in Ontario, Canada, and oversaw a US$100-million capital improvement for a 2,000-room gaming resort in northern Nevada, the release added.
The executive holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Ivey Business School, at the University of Western Ontario in Canada.
Mr Wolstenholme said he was “honoured and delighted” to join Tiger Resort.
Manila Bay Resorts – a multi-phase development – has been described as an approximately US$2-billion scheme.
