Sunvalley Hotel Clark Corp and the Hilton group have signed an agreement for the latter to manage a hotel in a proposed resort in the Clark Freeport Zone, in the Philippines. The resort will also have a casino.
Hilton Clark, at the Clark SunValley Country Club, is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2017, Hilton announced. It will feature 268 rooms, restaurants and 3,380 square metres (36,382 sq feet) of meeting space. The hotel “will be part of a mixed-use development that also includes a casino,” the firm said in a release.
There are so far no official details on the casino. Some sources state it is scheduled to open also in 2017.
“We have chosen to partner with Hilton because of its sterling reputation and deep hotel management expertise,” Lee Shin Kun, chairman of Sunvalley Hotel Clark said in a statement. He added: “Given the strength of the Hilton brand, we are confident that Hilton Clark will be the hotel of choice for Clark’s growing numbers of visitors.”
The Clark SunValley Country Club project, launched in 2012, is being developed by a subsidiary of South Korean construction firm Donggwang Construction Co Ltd. Aside from hotel and casino facilities, it will feature residential, retail and office space, luxury villas, an international school, a water theme park and other leisure facilities. Two golf courses are already open for business.
The project is located about five kilometres (3.1 miles) from Clark International Airport and about 60 kilometres from the Philippines’ capital city, Manila.
The development is a US$400 million investment in a 304-hectare (3.04 sq kilometre) land, according to reports from Philippine media.
Donggwang Construction operates several resort-type developments in South Korea and Japan.
