Casino currency and table games equipment specialist Gaming Partners International Corp (GPI) and table technology firm Walker Digital Table Systems LLC (WDTS) are to expand their collaboration to the development and distribution of radio frequency identification device (RFID) equipment for use in casinos.
The enhanced ties will focus on advancing in the market a particular form of the technology, known as phase jitter modulation, or PJM. It is said to be the form of RFID tracking most suited to reading large stacks of chips that are embedded with the necessary RFID tags. It is also said to be the RFID technology most suited to the high bet volumes typically found in Asian casinos.
“The companies anticipate that their collaboration will enhance the development time typically required to introduce and commercialise new and innovative PJM RFID offerings to the market,” said the joint statement.
“Being the largest supplier of RFID technology, GPI has a wealth of experience in the field, and this together with the innovation that WDTS brings to the gaming floor will serve the industry well,” said Neil Crossan, senior vice president at Walker Digital Table Systems, in a statement accompanying Monday’s joint announcement by the two firms.
Walker Digital Table Systems says it creates and develops products for the Asian gaming market including the PJM3.0-enabled Perfect Pay baccarat table system.
“Perfect Pay combines the accuracy, efficiency and integrity of an electronic table game with the emotion and excitement of the live dealer table game experience,” said the joint statement of the companies.
Gaming Partners International provides casino currency such as chips, plaques and jets, as well as playing cards. The firm also supplies gaming furniture and table accessories; table layouts; dice; and roulette wheels.
