Casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau declined by 8.5 percent year-on-year in June, marking 25 consecutive months of declines, official data show.
In June, GGR stood at approximately MOP15.88 billion (US$1.99 billion). It was the lowest monthly tally for Macau casino GGR since September 2010, when the aggregate for such revenue was MOP15.30 billion.
The result means that for the first half of 2016, casino GGR was MOP107.79 billion, a contraction of 11.4 percent when measured year-on-year.
Figures regarding the market revenue split between VIP and mass-market gambling during the second quarter to June 30 are due to be issued on a different day.
Judged on a month-to-month basis, June’s casino GGR fell by 13.6 percent.
The figures were given on Friday by the city’s casino regulator, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
Moody’s Investors Service said in a report this week it expects Macau’s economy to contract by 6.0 percent year-on-year in 2016, amid falling gaming revenues.
