Genting Singapore Ltd says it has appointed Nanami Kasasaki to the position of chief corporate officer (CCO).
The operator of the Resorts World Sentosa casino resort in Singapore told the Singapore Exchange on Friday that Ms Kasasaki has been a representative director of Genting International Japan Co Ltd since June 2008.
Genting Singapore is a subsidiary of Genting Bhd of Malaysia, and is known to be interested in obtaining a casino licence in Japan.
Genting Singapore said Ms Kasasaki had been executive vice president of Genting Singapore for corporate planning and corporate finance from July 2017 to March this year.
She holds 713,500 shares in Genting Singapore, the company added. The announcement of her appointment gave some personal details including her age, but did not mention her nationality.
On Thursday, Mayor Ichiro Matsui of Osaka said the authorities there had received seven responses to their request for concepts phase for a casino resort in the city.
Mr Matsui said five of the seven replies had been submitted by major casino companies from overseas, but didn’t mention any by name. At an event called the Japan IR Expo forum held in Osaka in mid-May, Genting Singapore did state it was interested on bidding for Osaka.
