Hong Kong-listed casino equipment distributor and consultancy Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings Ltd (APE) says it has launched the second consecutive summertime scheme involving a paid internship for a higher-education student studying in Macau.
The 480-hour internship runs from this month until August. It will see the full-time student from the University of Macau – said to be studying international integrated resort management there, with a specialisation in gaming – offered work experience at APE in sales and marketing, administration and human resources, and the technical department. Interns that complete the programme with what the firm terms “outstanding results” have the chance to become a full-time employee after their graduation.
“APE has been investing resources over the years to nurture young people including our junior staff,” said Herman Ng Man Ho, chief executive and executive director of APE, in a prepared statement in a Tuesday press announcement on the internship.
The Macau government has operated since 2017 what it terms a “Talents Development Committee” with the aim of developing public policies that enhance the career opportunities and skills among young people who are Macau ID holders.
In the Macau government’s policy address for 2018, delivered in November 2017, the city’s Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On, said the authorities wanted to increase the share of locals working in middle- and upper-level management positions in the city’s casino-operator sector to at least 85 percent by 2020.
