Singapore’s Casino Regulatory Authority is hosting next week the 5th Singapore Symposium on Gambling Regulation and Crime. The event, taking place on 29 and 30 August in Singapore, features a high-profile speaker line-up, including the heads of the regulatory agencies in each of the world’s top-3 gaming jurisdictions by gross gaming revenue: Macau, Singapore and Nevada in the United States.
“The two-day event brings together Asian regulators and law enforcement agencies to hear from established regulators and experts from around the world,” the organiser says. Topics to be covered include “evolving technological developments within the gambling industry, global developments on problem gambling, money laundering and gambling crimes, and emerging issues such as eSports and loot-boxes”.
The symposium’s first session – titled “Agile Regulation: Ensuring Effective Regulatory Supervision and Enforcement” – features as speakers Teo Chun Ching, chief executive of the Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore. He will be joined by Paulo Martins Chan, the director of Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau; and by Blair Cairncross, executive director of the New Zealand Gambling Commission.
The first day of the symposium features other high-profile speakers, including Sandra Morgan, appointed earlier this year chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board; and Mike Sarquis, executive director of the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation in Queensland, Australia.
The symposium’s guest-of-honour for the opening ceremony is Josephine Teo, Singapore’s minister for manpower.
