The Web-based poker broadcaster Poker Central has teamed with Macau Billionaire Poker Event Co Ltd for “Super High Roller Bowl China”. The tournament is to have a HKD100-million (US$12.8-million) prize pool, and will be held at Babylon Casino (pictured) at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf from March 20 to 22.
The invitation-only event is to have a cap of 49 players and to offer unlimited re-entry, according to a press release issued by the joint promoters.
“We wanted to raise the stakes by providing a prize pool befitting the event’s renowned stature,” said Tim Chen, the chief executive of Macau Billionaire Poker, in prepared comments contained in the release.
“As the annual Super High Roller Bowl out of Las Vegas continues to be the gold standard for high roller tournament poker, we knew the time was right to expand the format globally,” said Sampson Simmons, vice president of content at Poker Central, in remarks also included in the announcement.
Macau Billionaire Poker Event Co was set up in 2010 and is based in that city.
Macau Billionaire Poker opened its first land-based poker room in April 2016 at Babylon Casino, which is a property of Hong Kong-listed Macau Legend Development Ltd and operates under the Macau gaming licence of SJM Holdings Ltd.
