Monday night’s fire in the area of an escalator at the Resorts World Genting casino complex in Malaysia is being investigated by the property’s operator, said the complex’s management in a social media posting.
The blaze was put out in 10 minutes with no injuries reported, added the posting attributed to the venue’s management and uploaded to the property’s official Facebook page.
It said the blaze occurred at approximately 6pm that evening at an escalator “between Genting Grand and First World Hotel”, a reference to two separate guest accommodation facilities at the Genting Malaysia Bhd-operated property (pictured).
“Customers were quickly ushered away and the area was cordoned off when the fire happened. The fire brigade was at the scene within 10 minutes and the fire was put down instantaneously. No one was hurt,” added the management statement.
Investigations into the blaze were “ongoing” and the rest of the resort was “not affected”, according to the posting on Facebook.
Videos of Monday’s fire appeared on social media.
