U.S.-based casino equipment and lottery services firm Scientific Games Corp has appointed Karin-Joyce Tjon as chief operating officer and president, the firm announced.
The appointment is effective from Monday (February 13).
“Her responsibilities will include oversight of the gaming and lottery operations and driving the company’s organisational strategy, business development and fiscal discipline,” said Scientific Games in a Monday release.
“We have tremendous confidence in KJ’s ability to lead our long-term growth strategy and execution, and continue the strong growth across all of our businesses,” Scientific Games’ chief executive Kevin Sheehan said, referring to an abbreviated version of the new appointee’s given name, in a statement included in the release.
Prior to joining Scientific Games, Ms Tjon served for two years as chief financial officer and executive vice president of Epiq Systems Inc, a provider of technology and services for the legal profession.
She holds an MBA degree in finance from Columbia University, in New York, and a bachelor’s degree in organisational behaviour and management from Ohio University.
Scientific Games announced in August last year the appointment of Mr Sheehan as the company’s new chief executive. He replaced Gavin Isaacs, who became vice chairman of the board of directors.
Earlier this month, Scientific Games released some “selected preliminary expected” financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2016, providing earnings estimates that were above analysts’ consensus.
