The Grand Ho Tram Strip casino resort on Tuesday announced the appointment of Shaun McCamley (pictured) as its new president.
Mr McCamley, an Australian national, has “extensive Asia gaming experience in both marketing and operations”, the firm said in a press statement. He replaced Michael Santangelo at the Grand Ho Tram Strip.
Before relocating to Vietnam earlier this month, he served as managing partner of Euro Pacific Asia Management and Consulting Ltd, a specialist gaming consulting firm based in Macau and founded by Mr McCamley.
Stephen Shoemaker, president and chief executive of Asian Coast Development (Canada) Ltd, the parent company that owns the Grand Ho Tram Strip, said of the appointment: “Shaun joins us at a key inflection point for the Grand which is coincident with the Harbinger Capital Partners LLC and NewCity Capital LLC funding announcements”.
The US$500-million Grand Ho Tram Strip, designed by casino architect Paul Steelman, opened in July last year with 541 rooms and 90 gaming tables – 55 of them for VIPs.
The casino resort is just the first phase of the Ho Tram Strip. Full build-out of what is planned to be a US$4-billion project would include up to five resorts with a total of 9,000 five-star rooms, and 180 tables and 2,000 electronic gaming machines in two casinos.
The grand opening of Grand Ho Tram Strip’s golf course is scheduled to take place between October 17 and 20. The gala event will be attended by former world number one golfer and golf course designer Greg Norman, who designed the course.
