The Sheraton Macao Hotel, located at casino resort Sands Cotai Central, in Macau, has been upgraded to ‘Sheraton Grand’ status, the brand’s premier tier.
The hotel is joining 17 other Grand properties around the world, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts announced on Wednesday.
The Sands Cotai Central casino resort is owned and managed by Sands China Ltd, a subsidiary of U.S.-based gaming operator Las Vegas Sands Corp. The firm has a management agreement with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc for two hotels in the complex: Sheraton Macao and St. Regis Macao. The latter opened last December.
Sheraton Macao is Starwood’s largest hotel in the world, offering more than 4,000 rooms. The group’s portfolio features several international brands: Sheraton, Westin, Four Points by Sheraton, W Hotels, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Le Méridien, Element and Aloft.
Launched in August 2015, the Sheraton Grand tier celebrates the brand’s best-in-class hotels. The group aims to have 100 Sheraton Grand hotels worldwide by early 2017.
“This recognition by Sheraton Hotels and Resorts inspires us to continue delivering outstanding service and memorable experiences to each and every one of our guests,” said Janet McNab, Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel managing director, in a statement.
