The uptake in visitor registration for the newly branded MGS Entertainment Show is even stronger than that for the original Macao Gaming Show (MGS) launched in 2013, say the event’s promoters.
“Organisers are reporting an encouraging response from international C-level gaming professionals, who seem to be reacting positively to the exhibition’s growing relationship with the Macau SAR Government and the emphasis on ‘creativity and innovation’,” said a newsletter for the event.
The annual gathering – originally designed as principally a trade exhibition and conference for the regional casino industry – has with each edition taken on new elements to reflect the move toward mass-market entertainment and tourism in the regional gaming industry, say the organisers. The developing content also reflects in particular the Macau government’s policy aim of boosting the economic contribution of non-gaming products in the city’s general tourism industry and in its casino resorts.
MGS Entertainment Show – the 2016 edition under the new branding – takes place from November 15 to 17 inclusive, at the Venetian Macao.
The Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association (MGEMA) is the main organiser of the show, and claims a membership of 150 gaming-related companies.
“The early rise in MGS registrations coincides with the show’s latest keynote announcements: its decision to rebrand and broaden the exhibition by joining the Macau SAR Government’s economic drive for business diversity in the region, and the launch of the [Macau] government sponsored ‘Qualified Buyers’ programme offering travel subsidies to visitors to the show,” said the newsletter.
The Qualified Buyers programme offers subsidies of up to US$850 to eligible international visitors, or a series of cash benefits for Chinese and other Asian buyers.
