Austrian gaming equipment supplier Novomatic AG is ready to expand its product portfolio in Asia, after signing a new distribution agreement with privately-held, Singapore-based Harvest Gaming. That is according to Kenan Bajram (pictured), deputy director of global sales at Novomatic, in comments to GGRAsia.
Under the agreement, Harvest Gaming will distribute Novomatic’s land-based gaming products in Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam, according to an April announcement.
“Historically, Malaysia has always been one of our core markets in Asia, especially when it comes to our ETGs [electronic table games],” observed Mr Bajram.
“Our presence in that market also requires the best level of service and the best competencies on site, so that we can support our customers,” he added.
Mr Bajram continued: “We have… a new distributor who was previously acting for Novomatic as an agent. By doing that, we ensure that we are able to deliver the best level of service to our customers.”
Not only does Novomatic want to ensure the quality of the service it provides to its existing clients in Asia, but also to expand across the region, reaching to new customers.
“We are looking into expanding further in Asia, specifically in the jurisdictions covered by this new distribution agreement,” stated Mr Bajram.
The sales representative was speaking during the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia 2025, a major casino industry trade show and conference that took place in Macau last month.
Novomatic exhibited slot cabinets, multi-game products, progressive slot links, and electronic table games (ETGs) at the event in Macau.
Included was the “Diamond X” cabinet series, encompassing the “Diamond X 1.55J Quattro”, and the multi-screen version “Diamond X 2.32/3.32”.
The company also presented two versions of its “Black Edition II” slot cabinets: the “Black Edition II XL 2.32/3.32”, with the “Impera Link Series 2”; and the “Black Edition II 1.49J”, featuring the “Impera ProLink” and the “Rising Treasures” titles.
Black Edition II 3.27 is a multi-screen format, equipped with two full high-definition liquid crystal display screens in 27-inch and 32-inch diameter, and an equally-dimensioned topper. Black Edition II 1.49J features a 49-inch J-curve monitor for the group’s upright games and progressive titles.
New markets
The Austria-based manufacturer – traditionally strong in Europe and the Americas – has been working to increase the presence of its casino gaming machine products in Asia-Pacific markets.
“We have a very wide portfolio of cabinets and games, and our core markets are in Europe,” remarked the Novomatic representative.
He added: “The market in Asia is very competitive from a supplier’s point of view, but we stand by our core values, which is to ensure the quality of our products, and the highest level of service to our customers.”
The executive said the company wants in particular to have a bigger presence in the Philippines.
“We are doing some trials now at the moment with some of the IRs [integrated resorts] and some of the casinos in the Philippines, and we are slowly getting into that market,” noted Mr Bajram.
In mid-April, Novomatic said it had been awarded a gaming-related vendor licence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Potential casino customers in the UAE – where Wynn Resorts Ltd is developing the Wynn Al Marjan Island gaming resort in Ras Al Khaimah – are in likelihood “coming from countries where our presence and our products are very strong,” observed the Novomatic representative.
“We expect our products to be important in terms of performance and player satisfaction in the UAE,” he added.
Novomatic has announced a plan to acquire the remainder of the share capital it does not yet control in Australia-listed slot machine maker Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd.
The Austrian gaming manufacturer currently has an interest in 52.9 percent in Ainsworth’s shares on issue. The latest deal still needs to be approved, and might “close in the second half of 2025,” according to the Austrian firm.
