The global food and beverage (F&B) sector novelty, “Dinner in the Sky” is now bookable at Cotai casino resort City of Dreams in Macau.

It is described as a “50-metre-high dining experience” (pictured) according to latest social media posts by the complex’s promoter, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd.

The booking engine shows the first ‘sittings’ for dining as being on Thursday (June 19). Dinner can cost up to MOP1,888 (nearly US$234) per person for the most expensive offering. Dinner in the Sky is a Belgium-based brand, according to its official website.

Up to 22 guests per dining session are securely strapped to seats on a metal-framed platform, which is then lifted 50 metres (164 feet) in the air via overhead connection to a hoist system. Serving staff also wear safety harnesses, and work from a central aisle.

The platform is equipped with a canopy and chandeliers as well as table space and seats, and each dining session is up to one hour, GGRAsia confirmed via the Dinner in the Sky Macao official booking engine.

Lunch and afternoon tea are available, as well as dinner.

Dinner in the Sky’s origins date to 2006 via Hakuna Matata, a Belgian communications firm; and The Fungroup, a specialist in amusement park installations and cranes. According to the dining brand’s website, its services have been made available across circa 60 countries and places, including in United States casino hub, Las Vegas, Nevada.

GGRAsia has approached Melco Resorts for comment on why it opted to bring the attraction to City of Dreams in Macau.
