Gaming technology and content provider Light & Wonder Inc has been granted a gaming-related vendor licence in the United Arab Emirates, the firm said in a Friday press release.

The permission, from the Middle Eastern federal country’s General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), allows Light & Wonder to provide land-based electronic gaming machines, table games and table games utilities, as well as online iGaming content, to players of licensed operators in the UAE.

The first confirmed casino project for the UAE is Wynn Al Marjan Island, in Ras Al Khaimah. It is a venture between Wynn Resorts Ltd and local partners, and might be completed in 2027, according to the promoters.

Matt Wilson, president and chief executive of Light & Wonder, was cited as saying: “Securing a licence from the GCGRA is an important milestone for Light & Wonder as we enter one of the most anticipated new regulated markets in the world.”

The company added that the granting of the permit reflected “Light & Wonder’s ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with regulators to ensure safe, secure, and responsible gaming experiences”.

The GCGRA issued its first gaming-related vendor licence in October last year.
