Macau casino operator Sands China Ltd has held for a fifth consecutive year its ‘Happy 360 Month’ initiative, to promote employee health and wellbeing.
The latest edition spanned 16 days of activities, and featured 16 roadshows, six workshops and lectures, and a closing ceremony.
On days between June 9 and July 3, staff participated in a variety of pursuits at the back-of-house areas of The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, The Londoner Macao and Sands Macao.
According to a recent press release, ‘Happy 360 Month’ adopts what the company says is the “5S” model.
That covers: “Self-questioning; stopping negative thinking; self pep-talk; shuffling your thoughts; and staying attentive to body responses.”
Activities included health seminars, classes, exercise sessions (example pictured), physical and mental health consultations, “happiness index assessments”, interactive game booths, “and other activities designed to help team members establish a positive mindset and build a happy, thriving workplace”, said the update.
The company further noted: “Through the 5S model… team members learn techniques for embracing positive thinking, releasing stress, managing emotions, and building a warm and caring workplace.”
The updated cited comments from Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, Sands China’s executive vice chairman.
He stated, referring to the company’s workforce: “We have over 27,000 team members. If each of them has three or four family members, this positive energy is in fact indirectly reaching nearly 100,000 people.”
He added: “When team members are happy, their family life naturally becomes more harmonious and society as a whole becomes more stable.”
