The iRad Hospital, a fee-based medical facility at the Cotai casino resort Studio City, is now in partnership with Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital for “cross-border medical concierge services”, according to a Monday press release issued by the iRad Hospital’s promoter.
The statement said: “The medical concierge programme facilitates integrated care coordination, efficient cross-institutional scheduling, and personalised treatment plans utilising resources from both institutions.”
The iRad Hospital opened on October 6 at Studio City, a property promoted by Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd. iRad Hospital is said to offer a “full range of advanced medical imaging services” such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and computed tomography (CT) scans, as well as mammography, ultrasound, and X-ray services.
Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital is a private hospital established in 1922 in Happy Valley, Hong Kong. The facility is controlled by HKSH Medical Group, set up in 2017.
Lawrence Ho Yau Lung (pictured, centre) chairman and chief executive of Melco Resorts, was cited as saying in Monday’s statement, that the link between the two hospitals “demonstrates our commitment to advancing Macau’s ‘1+4’ industrial transformation agenda”.
That was a reference to an element in the Macau government’s policy aim of diversifying the city’s economy beyond high-stakes casino gambling.
Mr Ho added the announced agreement would be “creating vital healthcare connections between the two regions, enriching Studio City’s health tourism offerings while expanding healthcare options for the [Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau] Greater Bay Area community.”
Black Spade Capital Ltd, a Hong Kong-based family office managing the private investments of Mr Ho, has been controlling shareholder of iRad Medical Group since 2021, according to previously-published corporate materials.
The medical group describes itself as Hong Kong’s largest provider of MRI diagnostic services.
