Macau casino concessionaire Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd says it is committed to support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and young entrepreneurs in Macau, in a bid to promote the city’s “economic diversification”.

The casino firm partnered with the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC) to co-organise a two-day “Made in Macau” market at the back-of-house area of its flagship Cotai property, Galaxy Macau.

The event – supported by Macau’s Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute – provided a “sales and display platform for 10 local SMEs and start-ups to showcase their brands and products directly to Galaxy Entertainment’s team members,” stated the company.

The casino operator said the event “achieved remarkable results, with enthusiastic participation” from its employees.

“It not only brought direct additional revenue to the exhibitors, but also further demonstrated the market appeal of locally made products,” the firm stated.

Peter Chow, senior vice president of procurement and warehousing of Galaxy Entertainment, said in a speech that the initiative aimed “to encourage young entrepreneurs to unleash their creativity and strengthen their professional skills during the planning and execution process”.

“At the same time, we hope to create more business opportunities for SMEs and foster their sustainable development,” Mr Chow added.

In his speech, Andy Ng, director of MYEIC, said the collaboration with Galaxy Entertainment helped enhance “the visibility of locally made products,” reflecting the casino firm’s “commitment to its ‘Large Businesses Leading Small Businesses’ collaboration model and ongoing support for local enterprises and Macau’s economic diversification”.

Following a comprehensive evaluation based, Axon Space Interior Design Engineering Co Ltd was selected as the winner and awarded a contract worth MOP200,000 (US$24.942), as per the update.
