Macau casino concessionaire MGM China Holdings Ltd on Thursday announced a salary increase ranging from 2.0 percent to 4.5 percent for its eligible employees, with effect from March 23. The pay rise is “in recognition of their hard work and contribution for the company,” stated the firm in a press release.
The company said the salary increase will apply to 99 percent of the group’s employees.
MGM China runs the MGM Macau resort on the city’s peninsula, and MGM Cotai in Macau’s Cotai district.
Eligible employees earning a monthly base salary of up to MOP16,000 (US$1,992) will receive a pay rise of MOP500 per month, representing an increase of 2.0 percent to 4.5 percent, stated the casino firm.
Eligible employees receiving a salary above the MOP16,000 threshold will be awarded a 2-percent rise, as per Thursday’s update.
Pansy Ho Chiu King, chairperson and executive director of MGM China, was quoted in the release as saying: “The company takes great pride in sharing the fruits of our collective efforts with all team members.”
She added: “MGM extends its heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated team for walking alongside the company over the years and embracing innovative thinking to continuously elevate our products and services.”
All of Macau’s six casino operators have announced salary increases this year, with an increment equal to 2 percent for those earning above MOP16,000; and a pay hike of up to 6 percent for those earning MOP16,000 or below, according to various announcements.
All six casino firms have also declared payment of some form of bonus for work done in 2025.
