Casino concessionaire Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd says the company’s volunteers have joined the firm’s chairman and chief executive, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung (pictured, front centre), to visit various non-governmental organisations across Macau.
That included visits to families with children studying at one of the schools under the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM).
“Volunteers brought warm greetings to the beneficiary families, and delivered festive gifts and donations courtesy of Melco and its colleagues,” the firm said in a press release.
These community visits form part of Melco Resorts’ “Simple Acts of Kindness” volunteering initiative, which aims to “deliver warmth and care to the local community” in Macau during the run-up to and after the Chinese New Year period, the company added.

Mr Ho said in prepared remarks that volunteering was a “powerful way” for the company “to create meaningful change” in the communities where it does business.
“I am honoured to join our volunteering colleagues for today’s events in anticipation of the Chinese New Year, and I am grateful to them and all Melco volunteers for their continued support for our ‘Simple Acts of Kindness’ initiatives,” Mr Ho stated.
He added: “I am also immensely thankful to all our community partners for their ongoing support – helping us to engage and deliver warmth to those in need within the community.”
The Melco Resorts team also visited the Women’s General Association of Macau – Northern Family Service Centre, which serves “approximately 100 beneficiaries, including women and children”.

To mark the Chinese New Year period, Melco Resorts said it had planned “nearly 30 events spanning January and March” this year.
The company’s volunteers visited the Macau Federation of Trade Unions’ Ka Ao Nursery Home in late January; and worked with UGAMM’s I Chon Centre’s elderly volunteers in February to produce and give away handcrafted calligraphy banners. Melco Resorts volunteers additionally provided home-cleaning services to elderly people who also receive support via the UGAMM – Cheng I Elderly Integrated Service Centre at Cheng Chong Building.
