Macau casino firm Sands China Ltd launched the group’s annual “Sands Cares Spring Celebration” with a series of community events, “continuing a 19-year tradition of compassion and spreading community care,” it stated.
On February 10, Sands China’s management, employees and the company’s Sands Cares Ambassadors community volunteers “visited and delivered festive gift packs and blessings to 200 elderly users of Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance Services,” said a recent press release.

This year’s initiative “extended beyond Seac Pai Van Public Housing in Coloane to include residents of the Edifício do Bairro da Ilha Verde, sharing the warmth of the season with even more seniors,” the firm added.
Sands China said that, since 2008, it has partnered with the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance Services Centre, under the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM), to co-organise Chinese New Year visits.
“During the visits, team members chatted with seniors, checked on their health and living conditions, and assisted with household cleaning, simple repairs and haircuts, their actions embodying the Sands Cares spirit,” the company stated.
In addition, the local non-profit organisation “Everyone Stray Dogs Macau” also “joined the Chinese New Year elderly visits with their animal companions for the first time, strengthening the friendly, inclusive neighbourhood atmosphere,” the firm noted.

The update quoted Wilfred Wong (pictured above, third from left), executive vice chairman of Sands China, saying the company was “delighted to carry forward” its “tradition of care”.
“Together with 220 Sands Care Ambassadors, we visited the community to share festive blessings with elderly users of the Peng On Tung service, bringing warmth and companionship during this special season,” Mr Wong said.
He added: “This year, our parent company’s management and our volunteer team prepared 20,000 New Year gift packs filled with food and daily necessities, along with handwritten calligraphy.”
Ng Siu Lai, president of UGAMM, highlighted in prepared remarks that “since 2008, Sands China has continuously supported UGAMM, fully demonstrating its corporate social responsibility”.
The Sands Cares Ambassadors also visited the “Corner of Portuguese Cuisine” at the Fuhong Society of Macau’s Pou Choi Centre in early February “to distribute Chinese New Year lunch boxes to underprivileged communities”.
Sands China said these initiatives were part of the company’s “Sands Cares global corporate citizenship programme,” aimed “to give back to society, actively collaborating with local charities and social service organisations to build a better, more harmonious, and inclusive Macau”.
