The Macau government collected just over MOP9.07 billion (US$1.12 billion) in fiscal revenue from gaming in April, according to the latest data released by the city’s Financial Services Bureau.
The figure was up 2.3 percent from the MOP8.87 billion logged in March, the data showed.
For the first four months of 2026, the gaming tax tally reached MOP34.87 billion, a 16.9-percent increase from a year earlier.
Under Macau’s 10-year gaming concession system that started on January 1, 2023, the effective tax on casino GGR is 40 percent.
The latest data from the Financial Services Bureau show that gaming taxes accounted for nearly 86.5 percent of the Macau government’s MOP40.30 billion in current revenue recorded in the four months to April 30.
The tax-take figures for a given calendar period and the city’s casino GGR during the same time frame are not directly comparable for several reasons.
These include the fact that there is typically a delay between the point at which GGR is recorded by Macau’s casino operators and the point at which the government registers the corresponding tax payment.
The Macau government expects nearly MOP92.53 billion in revenue from gaming taxes this year. The tally in the first four months this year represented about 37.9 percent of that amount.
