The All Japan Poker Championship (AJPC) announced on Monday plans to hold tournaments in Macau and Taiwan as part of its 2018 Asian circuit series.
The AJPC is based in Osaka and holds a number of tournaments within Japan. The organisation currently holds a yearly AJPC Championship, which it says is the “largest poker tournament” in Japan.
The AJPC said on Monday it would be holding several tournaments throughout Asia in 2018.
In December, the group organised a poker event at Paradise City casino resort, a venue at Incheon, near South Korea’s main airport and the national capital Seoul. It reportedly attracted a total of 784 players for tournaments held over five days.
Monday’s AJPC announcement said the organisation planned to return to Incheon this year.
The year “2018 will see the AJPC look to grow our circuits outside of Japan,” AJPC chief executive Yasuhiro Sasaki said in a statement included in the press release.
He added: “This is in response to our players’ desire to enjoy tournaments overseas, with a focus on Incheon, Taiwan, Macau, and potentially other destinations, in Southeast Asia.”
The release did not include further details or name potential partners for the events to be held in Incheon, Taiwan and Macau.
