United States-based supplier of gaming equipment Scientific Games Corp has become a founding member of a not-for-profit initiative to promote “diversity and inclusion” across the gaming industry.

The All-in Diversity Project aims at creating what “tools” to advance the gaming industry’s diversity, inclusion and workplace equality, said Scientific Games in a press release on Friday. Such initiatives can be associated with ensuring that people are not discriminated against on the grounds either of race, sexual orientation or gender identity.

“Gaming is evolving and growing more than ever, and it’s crucial that the industry embraces the diverse and unique people who contribute to the gaming world,” said Scientific Games director of diversity and inclusion, Katharine Anderson, in a prepared statement. “Scientific Games is proud to be a founding partner of this trailblazing project and celebrates the efforts being made to create an inclusive environment with opportunities for all.”

As a founding member of the All-In Diversity Project, Scientific Games “will work with … additional partners to determine diversity, equity and inclusion expectations and standards for the gaming industry, while driving a conversation to establish global standards,” according to the statement.

The project would also utilise events, programmes, and surveys conducted in partnership with gaming industry operators and suppliers, to generate data that could be used as an industry resource. Such information and insights could also help to create inclusive products, policies and workplace teams, said the release.

Kelly Kehn, co-founder of the All-In Diversity Project, was quoted in Friday’s release as saying it was “proud” to work with Scientific Games on the basis the firm was “proactively open to collaboration and discussion around developing best practices which help to address key challenges that we face not only in the gaming industry, but across all industries”.

Other members of the All-in Diversity Project include global gaming and lottery supplier International Game Technology Plc (IGT); U.S.-based casino operator Caesars Entertainment Corp; online interactive sports betting service provider Paddy Power Betfair Plc; online gaming software developer Microgaming Software Systems Ltd; and online gaming technology provider Gaming Innovation Group.
