Angel’s smart table product deployed across all Sands China’s properties in Macau

Casino equipment supplier Angel Group says it has “successfully completed” the deployment of its “smart table system” on all mass-market baccarat tables in venues operated in Macau by Sands China Ltd.

The installation was completed at the “end of January 2025”, and covered “over 1,100 tables” across Sands China’s properties, said Angel Group in a Wednesday written announcement.

Sands China runs a number of casino properties in Macau, including The Venetian Macao, The Parisian Macao, The Londoner Macao, and Sands Macao.

According to Angel Group, following the latest deployment round, “approximately 2,000 baccarat tables in Macau, Singapore, the Philippines and Australia are now operating with Angel’s smart table system”.

The supplier said its smart table “hybrid” system utilises both artificial intelligence (AI) and radio frequency identification (RFID) technology “to capture each and every chip information, including quantity, type, and exact location on the table”.

“This smart table technology revolutionises casino operations on their marketing strategies, game protection, operational efficiency, as well as customer experience, based on real-time data analysis, supporting optimal game management,” stated Angel Group.

The company said it would continue to expand the use of its “hybrid” system on its smart tables for other games, such as backjack and dice-based games like sic bo and roulette.

In June last year, Angel Group said it had expanded its ‘smart table’ offer to cover sic bo and roulette, using tableside cameras that capture information that can be analysed via AI.

Angel Group has pledged to invest US$130 million in the development of a new factory in Macau, located in the city’s Concordia Industrial Park in Coloane.

The Macau factory – expected to be completed by the end of 2026 – is to be a base for the manufacturing and supply of casino playing cards, “smart” gaming tables and other casino equipment serving the city’s casino businesses.

Macau’s six casino concessionaires have all flagged plans to use RFID technology at casino gaming tables for monitoring the monetary integrity of games.

Citigroup suggested in a January memo that Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd had become the second operator in the city – after MGM China Holdings Ltd – to complete the rollout of smart gaming tables across its mass baccarat tables.

The brokerage added, in a note issued earlier this month: “On our count, we believe Sands China and Wynn Macau [Ltd] have joined MGM China and Galaxy [Entertainment] and become 100 percent smart in their mass baccarat operations. We also saw 62 new smart tables at City of Dreams’ grind mass area and 63 at Grand Lisboa.”
