APT 2018 kicks off on Friday in Vietnam

The first tournament of the 2018 Asian Poker Tour (APT) in 2018 will begin on Friday, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, said the organisers in a press release.

The APT, in partnership with Vietnam-based Pro Poker Club, opens the year with a guaranteed main event prize pool of VND3 billion (US$132,135). The tournament runs until January 28.

The APT said it would start implementing changes to its tournaments this years. “First, players chasing for the historic title now have more time to get into the main event,” said the organisers.

There will also be changes to the registration and re-entries schemes, so that “players can register and/or re-enter during the first level of day 2,” they added.

Following the tournament in Vietnam, the APT is scheduled to host the APT Philippines Championships 2018, from March 21 to April 2, at Resorts World Manila.

APT tournaments will return to Macau in April. The APT Macau Championships 2018 will be held from April 25 to May 6 at the Macau Billionaire Poker room, subject to approval by the local gaming regulator.
