One Australian maker of slot machines, Aristocrat Leisure Ltd, is suing another, Ainsworth Game Technology Ltd, both companies say.
The companies presented similar written statements to the Australian Securities Exchange on Thursday, saying Aristocrat Leisure began legal proceedings against Ainsworth the day before.
The statements say Aristocrat Leisure alleges that Ainsworth infringed Aristocrat Leisure intellectual property rights and broke the law that protects consumers in Australia.
Neither statement says precisely how Ainsworth is alleged to have infringed Aristocrat Leisure intellectual property rights and broken the law.
Ainsworth said it would vigorously contest the suit.
