Officials from Cambodia’s casino regulator, the Commercial Gambling Management Commission (CGMC), discussed on Monday preparations for nationwide casino evaluations aimed at ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, as well as the body’s “regulatory priorities” for the second half of this year, according to the Khmer Times.
The meeting was chaired by CGMC secretary general Yeth Vinel, the report said. It did not specify what the regulator’s priority tasks for the remainder of the year would be.
At the meeting, CGMC officials also reportedly discussed a “strategic plan for 2027 to 2030”, described as a “regulatory framework” supporting governance of Cambodia’s commercial gambling sector.
The CGMC chairman, Aun Pornmoniroth, called in June for relevant government departments to conduct comprehensive reviews of casinos across Cambodia to assess their licensing status.
Earlier this month, CGMC officials also discussed plans to improve inspection standards and measures to strengthen the management of licensed gaming professionals.
Separately, a delegation from CGMC – including its secretary general – visited the Sydney office of gaming testing and certification specialist Gaming Laboratories International LLC (GLI) last week, according to an update on the latter’s social media account.
GLI said it had presented the CGMC representatives with an overview of “regulatory compliance, testing, and certification processes” covering land-based gaming products, iGaming, lotteries and sports betting.
