An opening ceremony for the Capella at Galaxy Macau hotel – a 17-storey luxury property at the Galaxy Macau casino resort on Cotai – has been attended by senior management from the gaming complex’s operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, and from Singapore-based Capella Hotel Group. It took place on Tuesday.
Capella at Galaxy Macau has 95 suites and penthouses. The hotel had a soft launch starting in early May last year, Galaxy Entertainment had confirmed at the time. A gaming floor within the tower where the hotel is located, was open by early May last year, according to several memos from investment analysts issued at the time.
Following Tuesday’s event, a press release quoted Francis Lui Yiu Tung, chairman of Galaxy Entertainment, as saying: “Capella at Galaxy Macau’s architecture, service, gastronomy, and residential privacy create a singular experience for our top percentile of VIP guests.”
He added the hotel “sets a new reference point for hospitality in Macau and globally.”
The release also cited Clive Edwards, senior vice president of operations at Capella Hotel Group, as stating: “This strategic partnership positions Capella at Galaxy Macau as a distinctive expression of our brand vision: an intimate, residential retreat within an integrated resort context.”
The hotel’s whisky and cocktail bar Pony & Plume and a 48-seat restaurant Botanica are already in service, according to publicity materials from Galaxy Entertainment.
A restaurant by Hong Kong Michelin-starred chef Vicky Cheng will be launched at the hotel this year, though the property promoter did not specify its opening timeframe.
Capella at Galaxy Macau was the work of French design studio Moinard Bétaille. The Capella penthouses (pictured top) – either two-bedroom (up to 358 square metres, or 3,854 square feet) or four-bedroom (698 square metres) – include their own private infinity-edge swimming pool, outdoor lounge, sunroom and indoor “Winter Garden”.

The hotel also has one-bedroom suites (128 square metres) and two-bedroom suites (180 square metres), and both suite types feature indoor ‘relaxation pools’ and sunbeds.
With Capella at Galaxy Macau – also known as Phase 3D of Galaxy Macau – Galaxy Entertainment is promoting a total of 10 hotel brands in the city’s market.
The others on the main Cotai site are: Galaxy Hotel; Banyan Tree Macau; Hotel Okura Macau; JW Marriott Hotel Macau; The Ritz-Carlton, Macau; Raffles at Galaxy Macau; and Andaz Macau. The Broadway Hotel is across the road from Galaxy Macau, and connected by a bridge. On Macau peninsula, the group runs the casino hotel called StarWorld Hotel.
Galaxy Entertainment said previously that it would bring multiple high-end hotel brands that are “new to Macau” with Phase 4 of Galaxy Macau, an expansion phase with completion targeted for 2027.
