International cruise operator Carnival Corp & Plc is partnering with Scientific Games Corp to offer its adult guests the ability to wager on their mobile devices throughout Carnival cruise ships while in international waters.

The service is already in operation on some ships from the company’s Carnival Cruise Line brand, with additional installations pending.

The mobile gaming application is available for iOS- and Android-powered mobile devices.

Scientific Games, a U.S.-based specialist in lottery equipment and management, in November completed the acquisition of slot maker Bally Technologies Inc, based in Las Vegas, in a deal worth US$5.1 billion.

The virtual game offerings available on Carnival’s mobile casino platform include poker, slot machines and table games.

“We are thrilled that Carnival Corp chose our mobile wagering solution for its cruise ships,” said Jordan Levin, president of interactive gaming at Scientific Games.

He added: “This relationship expands the reach of our mobile wagering platform and enables Carnival to engage with their guests in a whole new way.”

Carnival Corp is the largest cruise company in the world, with a portfolio of cruise brands in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. It operates around 100 ships.
