DigiPlus bolsters responsible gaming framework

Philippine-listed DigiPlus Interactive Corp, an investor in gaming services including bingo and a digital sportsbook platform, has announced updates to its responsible gaming framework, according to a press release.

The updates to the brand’s responsible gaming tab within its platforms – first launched in 2024 – build on the existing “in-app self-exclusion tools, advanced player safeguards, and community ambassador programmes,” stated the brand.

DigiPlus runs online bingo platform BingoPlus; ArenaPlus, a sportsbook; and GameZone, a platform for casual and arcade gaming.

According to the company, its in-app self-exclusion feature allows players to set daily gaming durations, customise specific gaming schedules, and establish daily loss limits.

DigiPlus stated it combines these tools with the “industry’s tightest player restrictions”. These are said to include “enhanced electronic know-your-customer (e-KYC) processes with facial recognition, strict age and eligibility screening, and cross-checks against the National Database of Restricted Persons” published by the country’s casino regulator, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor).

The firm said it also launched a “Responsible Gaming Ambassadors Programme” in a bid “to foster healthy gaming habits”.

The company added, referring first to a leading Filipino comedian, actor and singer and second to a top professional basketball player in that country: “Household name Vice Ganda and other personalities like sports icon Kiefer Ravena, along with his family, also lend their voices as trusted ambassadors.”

This was “amplifying the message that responsible gaming is not just a corporate promise but a cultural movement shared by influencers and real players alike,” stated DigiPlus.

The company has also made available to its players a financial coaching programme, and conducts mandatory responsible gaming training for its employees.

The announcement cited DigiPlus’ chairman, Eusebio Tanco, as saying: “We don’t just talk about player protection – we build it, train for it, and champion it alongside our players.”

He added: “Since 2024, we have invested in pioneering in-app safeguards, strict compliance, and credible community voices to ensure that gaming remains safe, entertaining, and socially sustainable.”

The Philippine authorities are said to be mulling the introduction of stricter policies regarding access to digital gambling platforms..
